Tim Davie is one of the UK’s most recognisable media leaders, best known for serving as Director-General of the BBC and leading the organisation through a period of rapid technological, political and cultural change. With a career spanning global media, marketing and broadcasting, he has built a reputation for championing trusted journalism, public service broadcasting and the future of digital media.
Before becoming Director-General in 2020, Tim held a number of senior leadership roles across the BBC, including Chief Executive of BBC Studios and Director of Audio & Music, overseeing many of the corporation’s national radio networks and music output. Prior to joining the BBC, he held senior marketing and commercial positions at PepsiCo Europe, bringing significant experience in audience engagement, brand strategy and organisational transformation.
Throughout his career, Tim has led conversations around the future of broadcasting, editorial standards, innovation, leadership and the role of media in society. He has also served on the boards of organisations including Comic Relief, the Royal Television Society and the Creative Industries Council. In 2018, he was awarded a CBE for services to international trade and the creative industries.
