Why we should give up on achieving ‘parity of esteem’

7 July | 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm

The apparent need to create ‘parity of esteem’ between academic and technical qualifications has been highlighted by numerous policymakers over the course of several decades. However, as this session will explain, trying to achieve ‘parity of esteem’ can create just as many problems as it solves for learners, parents, employers and politicians. After exploring the evidence on this important issue, the session will conclude by offering a new perspective on how technical education can take its rightful place as a respected and credible option for young people.
