Why retrieval practice works: mechanisms from neuroscience

This session is about how to use neuroscience research in education whilst doing two important things: a) ensuring teachers are still the experts in their classrooms and b) avoiding misusing the research. Retrieval practice is used as a case study to show the power of neuroscience to uncover why cognitive science approaches work. These mechanisms can be used to help anchor educators to the fundamentals of retrieval practice to maximise its impact in schools.
