Why is planning-in complexity and doubt so important for top achievement?
8 July | 11:15 am - 12:00 pm
My session will explore the most effective strategies for schools to offer high challenge across the curriculum, with a particular focus on what real expertise and scholarship looks like across subjects. It will argue that there is often too little cognitive difficulty, rigour and struggle offered to students, so they do not develop the appetite for excellence that distinguishes top achievement. It will provide ways of engaging with these issues in the classroom and in the design of the curriculum.
