When SEN looks like behaviour, what we can learn.

Start with a vignette or two, reflect on how the situation could be seen and responded to differently. Discuss why a child might be unable or unwilling to explain their educational difficulty or barrier and how this could be missed over time. Talk through ideas about how to think carefully about what we see so as to understand what is being communicated. Discuss key points about why this can be difficult or challenging, how our skills can be stretched. Discuss some positive outcomes for individuals and how this can impact positively on ‘the other 29’ and the teacher too.
