What Do New Teachers Need To Know About Child Mental Health?

This session will explore transdisciplinary approaches to mental health in schools, exploring how initial teacher training provision can contribute to clarity of insight into the psychological and biological basis underlying child behaviour. We will consider how we can provide new teachers with practical and evidence based interpersonal neurobiological research e.g. Polyvagal Theory and Trauma Informed practices. The session will promote the importance of applying therapeutic opportunities through the power of interaction to empower teachers as agents of change in promoting positive child mental health.
