Using Manipulatives to Enrich Mathematical Communication

7 July | 10:00 am - 10:45 am

Maths provides us with a language to solve problems and to understand the world around us. Join us in this practical workshop, aimed at Early Years and Primary Colleagues, to find new ideas and simple tweaks that can be made to help the use of manipulatives enrich thinking, vocabulary, language and communication. In the session we will consider the impact of the Global Pandemic on mathematical teaching and learning, discuss the role of manipulatives in mathematical communication and examine how teacher talk and questioning enhances these activities.
