Urban education leadership in the land of the Trojan Horse: lessons and reflections

8 July | 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm

Colin Diamond will show that, despite the views of the opposing camps in relation to Birmingham’s Trojan Horse affair, there is no single simple narrative. A senior educationalist and author of The Birmingham Book, Professor Diamond argues that the current ‘one size fits all’ approach to school improvement in England does not address the issues found in our inner cities. He draws lessons from the way Trojan Horse was handled, and the successes of six education leaders who contributed to the book, to offer practical ways for leaders in multi-racial, multi-faith communities with high levels of socio-economic disadvantage to enable all pupils to succeed.
