The power of outdoor education for underrepresented communities

8 July | 11:15 am - 12:00 pm

Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, in autumn 2020 outdoor learning charity Learning through Landscapes launched My School, My Planet: a project to improve outcomes for children from disadvantaged ethnic groups and low socioeconomic backgrounds across the UK. In total, the project supported over 1,000 children from 47 different cultural backgrounds, giving them the opportunity to connect to nature, explore their cultural heritage and improve their wellbeing. In this session, those involved in the project will discuss the opportunities and challenges behind creating a truly diverse educational programme and how outdoor learning can benefit all children and young people.
