Recognising and supporting an Internal Presentation of Autism
8 July | 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm
There’s a cohort within our schools who are being missed for recognition and support – autistic young people who don’t present in a classic way. This tends to be mostly those brought up as girls, and there are many complex reasons why they are being missed. But the delay in recognition and support can cause huge mental health issues, and is one of the main reasons why autistic girls are hugely over-represented among CAMHS inpatients. This session will look at how to recognise this cohort and how to support them to a positive autistic identity.
