Oak National Academy becomes a government arms-length body this autumn with the remit to build curriculum expertise across the sector. In his first speech on Oak’s future role, principal Matt Hood sets out why curriculum matters so much and the system-wide problem Oak will address.
Matt Hood OBE, is a founder and principal at Oak National Academy, the national online classroom and teacher resource hub created during the Covid-19 pandemic. He was the founder of the Institute for Teaching, which merged with Ambition School Leadership to become the Ambition Institute. He is chair of Bay Leadership Academy and an independent advisor to the Department for Education. He was a founding trustee of The Brilliant Club. He is a former economics teacher and assistant head.
