Busting the Resilience Myths

Teachers play a vital role in creating resilient children, who can cope with adversity. Adults comment on how remarkably resilient kids are, but don’t underestimate how important it is for them to feel they CAN cope, and have competencies. This session busts many resilience myths, such as why it takes more than a few posters saying “effort is key” or “be positive about setbacks” to create a growth mindset child, and provides tips for developing resilience. Having had a neuro-diverse child excluded from three schools by age of seven, Elaine knows first hand how to create resilient, competent, confident children.
