Abby Parkin is Assistant Director of Learning and Innovation at York College and has worked in Further Education for 17 years. She began her career as a Sports Teacher before progressing into curriculum leadership and then moving into teaching and learning, driven by a passion for helping teachers develop their practice and gain the confidence to try something new.

Her current role brings together her interests in teaching and learning, digital innovation and AI. She leads York College’s Teaching and Learning and Digital Innovation strategies and has overseen the introduction of the College’s immersive learning room, the Cube 360, creating opportunities for students to experience environments beyond the classroom.

She particularly enjoys the variety of working in Further Education and exploring how teaching and learning research and different approaches can be adapted across a wide range of curriculum areas.
