The Student Festival offers students and their teachers the opportunity to hear from inspirational and expert speakers and to try new experiences.
All are designed to appeal to discerning teenagers by encouraging interaction and questions in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
In 2017 we are planning a diverse programme with an emphasis on ‘The Next Step’: a focus on careers opportunities and planning for learning aged 18+.
We are also shortening the length of the speaking slots, adding in more Q & A and creating new opportunities to engage with our speakers informally.
GETTING THE MOST OUT OF THE STUDENT FESTIVAL
In our experience it is most productive for teachers to help students plan their day, who they wish to hear, what they want to do, and then follow up with a group or one-to-one de-brief during the day.
We would encourage teachers to accompany students at least at the beginning, so that they are aware of what is available and feel confident finding and entering the venues.
Meet up at lunchtime and share! It will provoke others to try new experiences or hear a speaker in a second slot. Further, it is often in re-telling what they have heard or learned, that there is reflection and clarity.
We suggest that students are given a suggested minimum number of speaker sessions to attend to ensure they get the most out of the experience.
There will be a student information point which can be used if anyone feels lost, uncertain about the programme or requires any other guidance at the event.
Available at £5 pp if pre-booked or bought on the day or bring a packed lunch.
Please do get in touch if you have any other queries.
