Emma has 2 daughters aged 13 & 11, the youngest of whom was diagnosed with epilepsy aged 3, ASD aged 6 and ADHD aged 8. While in mainstream school since nursery, her school based anxiety and refusal became so great in Year 3, she was diagnosed with school phobia and spent 2 years attending for 1 hour per day until a place at special school was obtained. The school phobia and reduced timetable continues despite the change of setting.
Emma works as a training consultant for a local charity delivering courses on ASD & ADHD to parents and professionals across her county. She is also Patient and Public Involvement lead for a research programme in improving mental health for children and young people with epilepsy.
