Dr Waqar Azmi OBE is the founder and chairman of Remembering Srebrenica. Prior to this, he was the Chief Diversity Officer at the Cabinet Office and EU Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogue.
Waqar has played a significant role in public life on a national scale. He was appointed by the Home Secretary to the judicial public inquiry into the murder of Zahid Mubarek, and served as a member of the Oldham Riots Inquiry.
His work has been recognised nationally and internationally; he has been described as one of the world’s most influential Muslims, as well as featuring in the Bank of Scotland’s Asian Power 100 list of the most influential Asians.
