President of the Girls’ Schools Association
Charlotte Avery is President of the Girls’ Schools Association, which represents the Heads of UK independent girls’ schools.
A graduate of St Anne’s College, Oxford, Charlotte has an MA in Education Management and a NPQH. She has taught
English and Drama at state, independent, co-ed and single sex schools and is currently Headmistress of St Mary’s School,
Cambridge, an independent girls’ day and boarding school.
Charlotte was a member of the MoD’s Research Ethics Committee for seven years. She is currently a governor of St Bede’s
Inter-Church School, Cambridge and a Council member of ASCL, representing the independent sector.
