Ben Kerr-Shaw

Assistant Head, St Albans High School for Girls

Before teaching, Ben served as an Army Officer in the Educational and Training Services.  Here Ben delivered training programmes which used physical challenges, command tasks and adventure training expeditions to develop soldiers’ leadership skills.  He completed a PGCE from Southampton University whilst serving.  On leaving the Armed Forces, Ben mentored excluded students in South London before becoming a secondary school teacher.  He now works as an Assistant Head with responsibility for the co-curriculum.  His thirst for adventure has taken him sea kayaking in Belize, paragliding in Nepal and diving in Indonesia.  Ben now shares his adventures with his young family.
