Ed James is a Fellow of Learning Design at Ambition Institute, focusing on the ‘Transform’ strand of teaching improvement programmes.
As both his parents worked in education, it was probably always likely Ed would become a teacher – despite a brief attempt to become a journalist.
Ed taught humanities in inner London schools 2009-2014, also taking on the roles of Gifted and Talented Coordinator and Head of History.
Having gained a Masters from UCL, IoE, his interest in Professional Development took him to Teach First, where he supported the delivery of a new, practice based, PGDE.
In 2018, he moved to Institute for Teaching, having caught the evidence informed PD bug. Teaming up with Ambition School Leaders to become Ambition Institute has meant working on programmes with wider reach, supporting educators to keep getting better.
