We need valid and reliable measures of pupil progress in subjects so that we know who is off-track, if a whole class is struggling, and where teachers need support. Or do we? Measuring pupil progress might be a desirable aspiration, but we haven’t yet agreed how to do it reliably in most subjects. In this talk, Professor Becky Allen explains where we are today and how we might move forward from here.
