Melanie Renowden will chair a panel that brings together leaders from all walks of life and challenges the idea that leaders are a certain type of person, from a certain demographic or background. The session will discuss the need for diversity in education, and for educators and the pupils they serve to feel safe. It will reflect on the impact of new initiatives, such as Ambition School Leadership and WomenEd’s women-only headship programme, BAMEed and the recently-launched LGBTed. Delegates will be invited to share their experiences and the change they want to see in the sector, and debate how this can be best achieved.
