In the UK, approximately 1 in 29 young people aged 5-16 years (or roughly one per classroom) will be bereaved of a parent or sibling.
For 25 years, Child Bereavement UK has been supporting families and educating professionals when a baby or child dies or is dying, or when a child or young person is facing bereavement.
With the right help and support, most bereaved young people will not need professional help; what they do need is the understanding of familiar and trusted adults. Schools are well placed to provide this support.
Child Bereavement UK offers training, support and resources to give members of staff the skills and confidence to offer appropriate bereavement support to their students.
